Moolah Kicks are the first and only basketball sneakers engineered for female biomechanics to help decrease risk of knee, ankle, and leg injury.

BUILT DIFFERENT.

Female feet differ from male feet in 4 key places: heel, width, arch, and lateral volume. Yet for decades, we as female hoopers have been playing in Men's, Unisex, and Children's basketball shoes.

We worked with our women's basketball community alongside athletic trainers, podiatrists, and orthopedic surgeons to combine biomechanical research with on court testing to craft the optimal female fit.

Then we put it to the test. Compared with their personal unisex basketball shoes, a preliminary study found that athletes wearing Moolah experienced 7% less impact force during deceleration, 11% less knee loading during deceleration, ~5% less knee loading during lateral movement, 9% less hip loading during landing, and ~14% greater ankle mobility during lateral movement.

Made for women

  • Elite Female Athletes Suffer 52% More Foot and Ankle Injuries Than Men

A meta-analysis examining more than 25.6 million athletic exposures found higher foot and ankle injury rates among professional female athletes compared with their male counterparts.
  • Female Athletes Who Suffer ACL Injuries Experience 2.5x Greater Knee Loading and 20% Higher Ground Reaction Forces

A study of 205 female athletes found that those who subsequently suffered ACL injuries demonstrated significantly greater knee loading and ground reaction forces during landing than athletes who remained uninjured.
  • The female foot form and male foot form differ in 4 key places.

Research shows there are significant anatomical differences between the male and female foot form in the heel, arch, lateral foot, and forefoot.
  • The wrong fit can put your feet and body at risk

Research suggests that footwear designed around male foot anatomy may increase discomfort and contribute to biomechanical risk factors associated with lower-extremity injuries in female athletes.
  • Moolah’s reduce impact forces by 7%, knee loading during deceleration by 11%, and hip loading by 9%.

A preliminary study by Scottish Rite for Children found that adolescent female athletes wearing Moolah Kicks experienced reduced impact forces and lower knee and hip loading during basketball movements compared to their personal unisex basketball shoes.
  • Moolahs deliver 45% greater perceived ankle stability and 14% greater ankle mobility.

In studies done by Brock University and Scottish Rite for Children, female basketball players reported greater ankle stability and demonstrated increased ankle mobility during lateral movements when wearing Moolah Kicks compared to unisex basketball shoes.

 OUR WORK IS NEVER DONE.

We are running more studies this year with top biomechanics labs to further measure the performance benefits of our footwear and find new ways we can innovate to improve our products.

A special thank you to the 2,000+ athletes who have tested, played in, and informed every pair. It is because of your efforts that we raise the bar in performance each season. We are proud to serve women’s basketball and are committed to continuing to study, test, and innovate. The game is evolving and SO. ARE. WE!
